Booze & Books: Summer Reads and Autumn Cocktails

I’m back for a second installment of Booze & Books! I’m not sure if these posts are a cocktail enthusiast’s review of recently read books, or an avid reader’s take on well-crafted cocktails, but I am here for it all! This week, I’ll actually share my reviews on two books from my summer reading list: The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl by Issa Rae & Seven Days in June by Tia Williams over an Autumn Apple Hibiscus Cocktail! Cheers!

Autumn Apple Hibiscus Cocktail:

  • 1.5 oz Crown Royal Apple Whiskey
  • .5 oz of lime juice
  • Dried Hibiscus flowers
  • Light Ginger Beer

Add crushed ice, Crown Royal Apple, lime juice and hibiscus flower to shaker. Muddle the flowers into the liquids a bit. Place strainer on top of the shaker and pour into a glass that is filled halfway with ice. Place more hibiscus flowers on top and pour ginger beer over the flowers. Mix the drink up a bit and enjoy!
